Repair PDF
Fix a PDF that will not open.
Runs entirely in your browser. Verify it in your network tab.One file at a time.
What this does
Reads the file with qpdf, the standard open-source PDF tool, which rebuilds a broken cross-reference table and recovers every object it can find, then writes a clean copy. The copy is opened again with a second PDF reader before you get it, so a repair that does not open is never handed over.
Limits
- A file with parts missing (a download cut off halfway) gets back only the pages that arrived.
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
- The repair engine (about 1.3 MB) downloads from this site the first time it runs.
Is this private?
Yes, and you can check rather than take our word for it. Open your browser's network tab and run the tool: your file never appears in it, because there is no server to send it to. The whole site is static files, plus the WebAssembly engine that does the work, which is served from this same domain.
